MIA…

I’ve definitely been MIA this week.  It’s not even like I’ve been that busy so I don’t know what my deal is! I guess it’s that I haven’t really done much other than chores around the house so I haven’t really felt like I had anything to post about.

I started on Charlotte’s curtains last night and I’m really excited about them.  I found the exact same stripe fabric that Polka Tots is using in her bedding at Hancock’s and I bought that for the curtains.  The best part was that it was half off!  I love it when things are on sale!
The rug also came in and it’s so cute! (From Pottery Barn Kids)
I’m waiting to post pictures of the nursery until we get the chandelier hung this weekend and hopefully I get the curtains up.  It is going to be so cute! I’m so excited about it!  Getting all of these “things” and feeling her twist and turn makes all of this so real! I can’t believe that we’re almost to 25 weeks.  It has gone by so quickly!
We also got a new rug, finally, for the den!  It is amazing the softness difference between a rug from Lowe’s and one from Pottery Barn!  I also love the how finished the room looks now that we have a nice rug.

Jason and I are looking forward to a Valentine’s dinner on Friday at a new restaurant in town.  I’ve heard a lot of great things about it so it should be nice.  Then I get to go to a shower for my friend Leigh on Saturday.  Her wedding is coming up and I am so excited for her!  We also have a wedding to go to on Saturday night for another friend from high school.  Let’s hope he never forgets their anniversary since it will also be on Valentine’s Day! 🙂
This week I’ve also been reading Babywise and it’s got me all kinds of stressed out.  Someone please tell me that if I need to rock Charlotte to sleep one night or if she falls asleep immediately after I feed her that her sleep patterns won’t be off forever thus causing her to fail out of school because she’s not getting the sleep that she needs!!  I know that it’s a balance and every child is different but as the weeks get farther and farther along the counter and May approaches faster and faster I’m beginning to get worried that I’m going to accidentally do something wrong that will scar Charlotte for life!  Did you do the Babywise method and was it worth the effort that I’m sure it will take to let her soothe herself to sleep?  I’m afraid that since we aren’t even strong enough to let Luca do that that we won’t be able to listen to her whimpering herself to sleep!  I need advice! 🙂
I hope you’re having a good week! I’m posting a bonus Recipe Wednesday in honor of Valentine’s Day on Saturday.  It’s a super yummy dessert that’s really quick to make and the perfect size for you and your significant other!

    Hi Jennifer!
I just found about your blog today so I had come home and check it out right away. Don’t sweat the sleep stuff with baby Charlotte. I read just about every baby sleep book there is including Babywise. My favorite is The Baby Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano. It was a very happy medium and it really worked for us. Nothing you do in the first 4 months is going to scar Charlotte forever. 0-2 months do whatever you have to get her to sleep. 2-4 months try to start a routine, but don’t feel bad if you have to change it up. By 4 months you should have a pretty solid sleep routine, but you can always tweak it, and don’t stress if you have a setback or two. I also highly recommend Baby 411. It has a great summary of all the different sleep methods. It has lots of other helpful information, too. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you have more baby questions! My email is melissablowe@gmail.com and I have a blog, too, at http://www.thelittlestlobo.blogspot.com
P.S. LOVE, love, love the elephant dress! I’m so jealous! I will have to get an elephant shirt for Camden.

I love your rugs! I also love that you’re putting a chandelier in her room. I’m sure it will look perfect and I can’t wait to see pics!

Hey- I read baby wise too. Don’t get to stressed out…I think the main thing is to get one some sort of schedule. Each baby is so different, you’ll just have to see what works for you.

I am so tempted to stay up all night reading your whole blog…but I must pace myself and come back tomorrow!!! I did Babywise with Connor, BUT I was not super-legalistic about it and didn’t even start it until he was at least a month old. The main thing I used from it was the “cycles” where the baby eats, then you try to keep them awake (even if it’s just for one minute at first) then they nap and then when they wake up, they eat again! It really does work and Connor is an AWESOME sleeper!!! I pray Avery Kate will be that way, too.
So excited to share all this baby stuff together!
