Football Kickoff

Three years ago we had just met Kelly and Tripp and been invited to their home for a lovely dinner.  We enjoyed hanging out with them so we invited them to our house to watch the first college football game of the season.  We had no kids and were all working full time.  The guys had played golf a lot and knew each other better than Kelly and I did at that point.  I’m not sure but that get together might have solidified Kelly’s and my friendship when she saw that I spoke her love language of fixing entirely too much food for the number of people that were attending (i.e. we could have fed 20 people and there were only four of us there).  We’ve been making way too much food ever since!

Last year we continued the tradition and this year we kept right on with it.  The nights keep getting a little crazier with older kids and only the guys get to watch a few minutes of the football game and no one ever stays past 8 pm but we have fun and I love having a tradition like that!

This year we did honestly try and tone the food down a bit and went with Chicken Alfredo pizza’s that Kelly made (so good!) along with some random Pioneer Woman recipes like Potato Skins, BBQ Jalapeno Poppers, and Blueberry Cobbler.  Charlotte was so excited before they got there that she wanted to go outside and wait on Caroline to arrive.

Charlotte and Caroline did some coloring after dinner

We still haven’t mastered having everyone smile at the same time.  It might be a few years before we get those kind of pictures!  Regardless, we enjoyed having them over and can’t wait to do it again soon!
