Charlotte, Family

Another season comes to an end

We’ve spent some fun weekends in Tuscaloosa this year.  Charlotte was really aware of this football season and began to love “T-town” even more than she had before.  She has loved every second of the football’s games, has fallen in love with the “real” cheerleaders and the “sparkly” cheerleaders, has learned a number of cheers and the fight song, and loves Big Al.  But, the home football season has to end sometime and this year it was with the Georgia Southern game.

Since the game was on pay-per-view it was set for a 1pm kick which was good for us because it worked with James’ feeding schedule and was enough to keep Charlotte occupied during her nap.  We also had a fun day because KayKay and GrandDavid came down to so Charlotte and James got to see both grandparents all day plus she got to see Mary, Lauren, Joe and Cathy! It was definitely a fun day!

Before the game we took some pictures on the balcony.

Then we headed off for the pre-game festivities.  Charlotte had a great time running around the trees, seeing Mary, playing with Char Char and getting him to help her see the band and Denny Chimes, and snuggling with Memma!

Then it was game time! Charlotte sat with Mom, Dad, and Charlie which was nice for Jason and I because James seems like a breeze compared to Charlotte! 🙂  Charlotte behaved pretty well during the game and ate constantly.  I don’t know where she puts all the food that she consumes but at one point I looked over and saw her ask Mom for more food and I saw Mom look at her and say, “Really??! You want MORE food??” But like good grandparents they got it for her and it kept her happy.

She did get unusually tired during the game.  At points putting her head down on Mom’s chest like she might go to sleep.  She usually powers right through a nap so that should have been our first clue that something was up, especially since she’d had a cold all week but we didn’t really think much about it.

Charlotte had spent all day and especially all game talking about giving the sparkly cheerleaders a hug.  Dad worked out a way that he could take her to do it and the plan was set that after the game they would head over to the student section.  But at the end of the game, for a brief time, Charlotte said that she didn’t want to go.  Again, we should have known something was up but we didn’t.  Dad and Mom successfully got her over to see them and get a picture and as she got closer she changed her mind and said that she did want to see them!

When Charlotte woke up on Sunday morning the first thing she said was, “I thought the sparkly cheerleaders were going to wake me up! I want to hug the REST of them!”

Sadly, by the time Charlotte got back to the condo her eyes were all crusty and bloodshot.  We called Charlotte’s ENT and after describing all of her symptoms he said that he didn’t think it was pink eye but a sinus infection.  He called in an antibiotic for her and Jason went and picked it up after the crowd died down.  We got her first dose in her that night and finished it up this past Monday.  Her eyes weren’t pink once she woke up on Sunday morning and were only crusty once or twice more which was good.  I don’t know if the wind in her face walking to see the sparkly cheerleaders was the catalyst to make it show up or not, but she felt much better a few days into her medicine.  Unfortunately, she also passed it on to Jason and James but I think we’re finally on the tail end of it.  James is the only one still showing a little sign of it but it’s very slight right now so I hope he’s all better soon!

It was a sad way to end our last home weekend but the weekend was still fun!  Charlotte is already asking when we’re going back to T-town and when she can see the sparkly cheerleaders again.  It’s hard to tell her not until next fall.  I’m sure that seems like it will never come to her!  But from my vantage point next football season will be here before we know it!

So sad the last home game is now over. One of the best parts about football season is getting to see your precious family a few times each month.

I’m also LOVING the last picture. The “sparkly cheerleader” that Charlotte had her picture taken with is a sweet girl from my hometown. We all love Ashleigh!
