The house that we’re currently in has a small nook next to the garage door that serves as our mudroom. But it’s tiny and just has a small bench and we added some hooks above it. Because I don’t like for us to wear our shoes inside of the house with kids playing all over the floor, it quickly gets messy with lots of shoes and kids bags, etc. With two little ones and Jason’s and my shoes everywhere it overwhelms me almost daily! So in the new house I wanted an area that was a designated “mudroom” with organizers for all (can you tell that I love organizers? This house is going to be like OCD city!). Here are some of my favorite inspiration pictures.
I love the lightness of this mudroom and the wall of slatted (is that the word?) doors. I also love the color in that it’s a little darker shade of cream.
The thing that caught my eye in this mudroom are the shoe pull out’s. They’re not full drawers so hopefully the air will circulate in them but they’re individual places to store everyone’s shoes. This design feature is definitely making it into our mudroom!
The fact that this mudroom is incorporated into a hallway is something that I like and the thought of being able to hide all of the mess away makes me happy. The thought of little boys soccer cleats and other sports things and dance bags closed up in an enclosed cubby though? Not so much.
This beautiful mudroom makes me swoon. With the ladder to reach the upper cabinets to the benches and baskets and the fact that there are individual upper cabinets! Much too large and involved for our new house but if I had a dream mudroom with an unlimited budget it would probably look a lot like this! The one thing we probably will get though is a protruding bench where we can sit down and put shoes on.
