Headed to Paris

We set off on our belated five year anniversary trip last week. Only almost two years late isn’t too bad, right? I wasn’t sure that I would successfully get everyone packed and out the door since I was so busy trying to get the kids situated but somehow we managed to leave with just a little (ok large) portion of gnashing of teeth on C’s part.

We arrived at the airport exactly at the two hour time point that they ask you to arrive which made this girl who doesn’t like to break the rules happy. Other than forgetting a quart size bag for our liquids in the security line, we got to our gate with still 1.5 hours to go until takeoff. Then our flight was delayed but since we had a five hour layover in Chicago this wasn’t a problem for us and we settled in to start our vacation.

Our flight finally took off and I snapped this picture out the window for Charlotte who got really interested in airplanes before we left.

We experienced our first Admirals Club experience in Chicago and it was so nice to have a more relaxed place to rest since we still ended up with a four hour layover. Unfortunately our 5:30 am wake up was already setting in and I was trying to convince Jason that it would be ok to go ahead and go to sleep because it was 10 pm in Paris.  Since we were sitting in a very crowded place he didn’t buy it!

Unfortunately, there were lots of storms in Chicago that night and we ended up with a small delay due to lightening as we left.  Once we were able to board the plane though our decision to upgrade to business class was confirmed again and again with large seats, personal Samsung Galaxy pads to watch movies/tv shows on, Bose noise canceling headphones, great food, and a plush blanket and pillow!

It was a long flight but all the amenities helped and we each spelt for a few hours.  It was breathtaking to get to see the sun rise and fly over some of England and the French countryside.

When we landed in France it was around 9:30 in the morning and it was exciting to finally be on French soil that I took a picture out the plane of the airport!

We got through customs very quickly and in no time were at our hotel.  Since our room wasn’t ready yet we just headed out to start our trip.  More to come on that soon!
