Homecoming at The Capstone

We headed down to Tuscaloosa early so that we could take advantage of all of the Homecoming festivities.  We started with heading to the pep rally on Friday night.  We stopped to take some pictures at the President’s Mansion before walking over to Gorgas.

We made a stop at Denny Chimes on our walk to Gorgas to see Mr. Barrett’s “hoooge” (as James says) hand and footprints.

We got another family picture with Denny Chimes in the background.  Denny Chimes was the first building on campus that Charlotte would name by name.

Both kids started out sitting with Mom and Dad for the Pep Rally but as soon as Big Al came near James lost it.  He ended up watching Mickey during most of the pep rally and when he wasn’t watching his favorite mouse he was keeping his eyes out for the big elephant that seemed to terrify him.  Charlotte set out with a determination to get a “group picture” with all of the band, flag girls, and sparkly cheerleaders.  Thankfully they are very sweet and she was satisfied with some of the Crimsonettes smiling with her with the band in the background.  She also was very excited to see her favorite Crimsonettte, Katie, who was so sweet to her again.

The kick for Homecoming was set for 11:30 so I knew that there was no way that James and I would make the game.  And when we heard that the parade was set for 7 am everyone bowed out except for Charlotte’s sweet Daddy who acted like we were all crazy for not wanting to get up to take Charlotte to see the parade.  So C and Jason had some quality Daddy/Daughter time watching the parade.  From what I hear they had a great time!

Sam and Abby (and Carrie and Scott) joined us for the weekend and the kids had a great time playing with them before and after the game.  I’m so thankful for them and the great example that they set for our kids!

James and I stayed at home and he napped during the game.  Turned out that I napped throughout the game too!  Which left us both awake and ready to have fun after our win.  Charlotte had a great time during the game including making some new friends.  It will be fun to see these girls grow up together over the years!

Homecoming is a wonderful tradition in Tuscaloosa (as I’m sure it is everywhere) and we were glad to be able to enjoy the festivities.  We all love Alabama and love every chance that we get to spend back at The Capstone!
