Meet Miss Ginna!

If you’ve been reading since the summer, you will have heard of Miss Ginna.  She teaches Charlotte’s art classes and is one of our favorite people.  She is so incredibly sweet and such a wonderful teacher — it’s amazing what kind of art our 4.5 year old is bringing home!  But not only that, she is very talented!  A few weeks ago (months?) I posted about five of my favorite artists.  But because of a a technology glitch I didn’t get to include any of Ginna’s work so I wanted to correct that now.

Ginna has been painting since college where she had a double major in art and advertising but didn’t start doing it “professionally” until she began teaching 16 years ago.  She initially was selling fun, whimsical children’s art wholesale to retailers through market in Atlanta.  As these pieces took off she began getting contacted by bedding manufacturers who would her fabrics for upcoming lines and ask her to create pieces to coordinate.  (I have to interject and say isn’t that so cool?!?!)  She also sold her work locally at a store that has since closed.

You can see some of the whimsical remnants of the art that she used to do in her unique floor cloths.  They are perfect for a beach house or just to add whimsy to your home!

When Ginna stopped selling at market, she concentrated on teaching, which she is wonderful at.  Now she paints gorgeous pieces of art in her spare time.  She says that she prefers oils but also does a lot of work in acrylics.  Look at these that she finished recently, they are stunning!

Ginna does lots of custom orders and you can email her (gsiniard (at) knology dot net) if you are interested in a piece.  Ginna has a goal in 2014 to concentrate on her abstracts and paint enough to have a home show to test the market for her work.  I know that I for one can’t wait for that!

Also, if you’re local and interested in getting your child enrolled in Ginna’s art classes registration for the spring semester is coming up in early December.  Email her to get added to her email list.  You will not regret time your child spends learning from Ginna!  Art and creativity are such an important part (in my opinion) in a child’s education and helping them learn to adapt to the world as they grow and Ginna’s classes are the perfect introduction.
