Charlotte, Personal

2009 in Review

2009 was really a spectacular year for us!  I thought I’d go over some of the highlights month by month.

January 2009
We spent the beginning of January anticipating our 20 week ultrasound and finding out if we were having a boy or a girl.  Once we found out that we were having Charlotte we spent the rest of the month furnishing her nursery.  We got the nursery painted and the crib set up! And I got to go buy my first pink things!  This picture is from dinner immediately after finding out that we were having a little girl!

February
We spent February doing more in Charlotte’s room and getting it set up.  No big baby news but it was a month full of love! One of my best friends from growing up, Leigh, was getting married in March and I got to go to one of her wedding showers on Valentine’s Day and then Jason and I went to another friend’s wedding that night!  Here’s a picture of Leigh and I at her shower!
March
March was a fun month for us.  We had Leigh’s wedding in which I was a very pregnant bridesmaid and a fun trip to Rosemary Beach with my family and Kelly and Tripp (poor Caroline had to stay home!).  We had so much fun traveling and it was nice to get away and relax a little before the serious baby prep kicked in!  Here’s a collage of pictures from our beach trip!

April
April was full of a lot of anticipation.  My pregnancy was winding down (or close to it!) and I had two fun baby showers at work and with my friends and family.  I moved to weekly doctor’s appointments which made Charlotte’s arrival feel imminent even though it was still a month away.  We finished Charlotte’s nursery in April which was exciting and we also found out that she was breech and that I was going to have a c-section (not as exciting).  Here’s a picture of Charlotte’s nursery and a few from my baby showers.

May
May 2009 is so far my favorite month in the history of my life.  Even though she didn’t arrive until the 22nd, little Charlotte Lee took over the month of May for us.  I enjoyed celebrating my first Mother’s Day even though I will probably enjoy 2010’s more since Charlotte will actually be with us.  I started maternity leave which allowed me a few days of rest before Charlotte arrived.  I definitely took advantage of that time to try and stockpile sleep….too bad that’s not possible!  But then Miss Charlotte arrived and our world changed forever, in the absolute best possible way!
June
June was a month of enjoying Charlotte and surviving on little sleep.  Honestly the month is pretty hazy for me due to the sleep depravation but it was, of course, 100% worth it.  We did some fun firsts like Charlotte’s first stroll, her first month birthday, and leaving her with grandparents for the first time.  Watching her develop a personality was so much fun!  This is probably our favorite picture from the month of June.
July
July started a crazy few months for us.  We put our house up on the market and started looking for a new one.  We weren’t in any hurry but then we got an offer on our house in less than two weeks and all of a sudden we were trying to find the perfect house, make an offer, and move all before school started (that’s when the people buying our house wanted to move in).  So packing took over every nap time but we still enjoyed a trip to Tuscaloosa and being together as a family.  Her two month doctor’s appointment and first shots were pretty sad though.  But the rest of the month it was so much fun watching Charlotte grow!
August
August involved us moving which was a huge understaking with an almost three month old.  We also moved to this new blog from our previous one.  Charlotte had her first outing in our hometown for a friends wedding and was oohed and aahed over.  Charlotte started rolling over at the end of the month also!  This is one of my favorite pictures from August.  It was taken with Jason’s iPhone while we shopped for new furniture for our den.
September
September started football season for us and our go-go-go weekends.  We left Charlotte with Jason’s parents for our first overnight away.  We took Charlotte to her first football game and her first Braves game and Charlotte started rice cereal!
October
We had so much fun in October! Some of my favorite things happened like our trip with Kelly, Tripp, and Caroline and my family to Oxford for the Alabama vs Ole Miss game.  And Charlotte’s first Halloween!  This is one of my favorite pictures from the drive to Oxford!
November
We celebrated Charlotte’s first Thanksgiving in November even though it was cut short so that we could go to the Alabama vs Auburn game.  But the most important and special thing that happened in November was when we dedicated Charlotte and ourselves to God on her six month birthday!
December
The month of December was so special for us as we celebrated Christ’s birth for the first time with Charlotte.  She made Christmas so much more fun and so special! We loved putting up our tree with her (even if we had to do it twice) and seeing her open all of her presents!
Overall, 2009 was fantastic! We are so thankful for Charlotte and all that she has added to our family in the past year! We have loved making so many new memories with her!  We can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store for our family!
