Construction Chronicles – Breaking Ground

Last Friday was the big day….we broke ground!  A lot of people would be nervous to start on Friday the 13th but in our family 13’s and Friday the 13th’s have always been kind of lucky.  Case in point, I was born on Friday the 13th and Jason’s parents first date was on the 13th.

We knew starting the process of clearing our lot would depend on weather and all week it had been rainy, foggy, and dreary so we didn’t think that we would actually start until Monday.  But we woke up to blue skies and bright sunshine and the guys got to work cutting down trees.  They worked all day on Friday and Saturday and got the lot cleared from trees.  Yesterday they started cutting the lot down to a level height that will add in some front yard for us and eliminate the need for retaining walls.  We are excited about getting started on our home!

I’m going to try my hardest to take pictures from the same points on Sunday evening’s throughout the construction process.  You might not care but we are interested in seeing how much progress is being made.  So, without further ado, here is the lot before breaking ground, the day of (without pictures in all of the right places), and this past Sunday.
