Friday Peanuts – Artful Inspirations

Friday Peanuts

I have always loved art.  I was a photography minor in college for a little while and enjoyed taking multiple photography classes in high school.  I even had to develop my own film and pictures back then!  Now that I’m a “grown up” I have a long wish list of pieces of art that I would like to have.  The annual cocktail party for the local Museum is always one of my favorite events because it showcases many artists with many different styles in a silent auction.

Today, I thought I’d share with you five of my favorite artists right now!

1. Ginny Pylant Art

I’ve known Ginny literally my entire life and have always looked up to her.  I was so excited to hear that she had started painting while her three girls were at school or napping.  Her art is gorgeous and in addition to the paintings that she paints and sells around town, she also does commissioned pieces (like the one in the bottom left hand corner above).  You can contact Ginny via her email (ginnyvick1 (at) aol (dot) com).

2. Shelley Minchew

While we were in Watercolor we visited The Blue Giraffe and fell in love with a Shelley Minchew piece.  We thought that it would be perfect above our bed but decided to wait and see if we still loved it the next day.  We decided that we did still love it and went back to purchase it only to have it taken out on approval by someone else!  But we left our names and, thankfully for us, it didn’t work for the other person so they brought it back so that we could bring it home!  I love you Shelley incorporates sayings in her pieces.  The saying on this one is “Love is the Greatest Command” and it is written on the back of the piece and hidden on the front.

3. Ginger Leigh

Ginger Leigh is another artist that I found at the beach.  She signs each of her angel pieces with a Bible verse which I love.  You can purchase her items online at Spools of Twine.

4. Ginna Siniard

Miss Ginna, as Charlotte calls her, is possibly my favorite local artist.  She teaches children’s art classes for those 4 and up and if you live anywhere nearby, it is worth the drive to get your children in her classes.  Charlotte chose art over gymnastics this fall because she said “art is more fun” and she looks forward to going to Miss Ginna’s every week!  She’s also learning a TON!

But Ginna has been painting for years and her pieces are always big sellers at auctions or anywhere that you can find one.  She does more custom pieces now since she spends so much time teaching and loves doing floor paintings!

5. Caitlin McGauley

I found Caitlin McGauley on Pinterest and fell in love with her style.  It is totally different than the other artists that I’ve featured, but it so much fun.  Her pieces have found homes in Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, and many other huge stores.  Her watercolor prints are beautiful and fun and whimsical and I would love to decorate my office in them!
