Holiday Gift Guide – Blurb Books

If you’re like me, you like to get your Christmas shopping done early. The fact that I’ve barely started at the beginning of October makes me a little itchy if I think about it….so I won’t. But one thing that I’ve found to be a great gift for all ages is a homemade book. Today, I’m teaming up with the folks at Blurb to share a little about how you can make a custom book for your family or friends.

In years past I’ve gifted copies of our One Tale a Day blog put into book form for the year. I’ve also converted a friend’s blog to a book and gifted it. And I’ve made family photo books to give as gifts. They were all so well received and Blurb makes them very easy to make! (Although, be forewarned, they do take some time so be prepared to spend a few hours making your book!)

This year Blurb has put together a Gift Guide to make it even easier to create a book. They show samples of types of books you can make (in addition to what I’ve already mentioned, think cookbooks, planners, personalized notebooks and journals) as well as a graphic showing you all the tools available in their software and instructions on how to make a book.

They are also offering a a 20% discount through October 7th if you use code EARLYBIRD20.

Christmas Comes Early at Tales of a Peanut

I’m excited to announce our Christmas 2013 promotions today! We have lots of exciting products available in the shop that can make your holiday season very personal and special this year! Check out our specials below on Christmas Card orders between today and November 10th! And make sure to notice that the LAST DAY for card orders is December 4th!

Here are some samples of some of our Christmas card designs. Please remember that the thing that we strive to do at Tales of a Peanut is create a unique card for you and your family. EVERYTHING is customizable on these cards! Colors, fonts, wording, number of pictures, picture orientation….you name it, we can change it. And if you have an idea for a card that’s totally different than these (or the others that are on our website!) we encourage you to share those ideas with us and we can create a card that is just for you this year!

Some notes about what makes our Christmas cards so special:

– You get to choose everything about the card so they are exactly what you want them to be!

– They are professionally printed at a professional photo lab so the quality of printing is superb.

– We offer three card stock options to choose from, Classic Felt, Linen, and Pearl. All three offer something different but they are all gorgeous card stocks that will last for a long time.

– By purchasing cards from us you’re helping support a Mom and her family. This is a one woman shop so if you have questions or concerns or problems or requests, it’s all coming to one person…me! You will get timely turnaround on design (24-48 hours for start of design and up to two complimentary proofs) and cards arrive at our shop within two business days of placing the order and we ship them out to you the next business day via USPS Priority Mail for the quickest delivery. (Expedited delivery methods are available after prior discussion.)

In addition to custom cards, we also offer lots of other products for you. Everything from gift tag stickers to put on your gifts, to coasters for you party, thank you notes, return address labels, and gift ideas (think note pads and wine bottle labels). We also love to offer a metal die cut ornament that is either a smaller version of your Christmas card or one of the pictures from your card for you to hang on your tree. We get one of these made every year and are getting close to being able to decorate a tree just from our yearly pictures!

Items are in the shop a la carte, but we will be happy to put together a package deal for you. We will often be able to give you some savings in a package that we aren’t able to offer in a la carte pricing. Just contact us for a free quote on a package!

And for those of you who live locally, we will refund your shipping costs to you if you would prefer to pick your items up from our house. Just note that in our conversations about your design and we’ll take care of it!

What to get those who do so much for us?

Our parents do everything for us from the moment we’re born. As we grow older we start taking on more and more of the responsibilities that they initially handled for us. But, even as adults, they are still there watching our back and helping us out left and right.

When you become a parent you appreciate all that your parents have done for you even more! And if I felt like I needed to get my parents something good to show them how much I appreciated them before I was a parent, now that I’m a Mom I’ve realized that nothing can ever repay your parents but they don’t even really want to be “repaid”, they’re just happy to do it for you!

Despite that fact, I still want to get our parents a meaningful gift on holidays, but they’re very hard to buy for since they rarely make lists or can even tell me anything that they want. Since I’m a “words” person, I decided to go that route this past Christmas to get something made especially for all of our parents.

Last fall, I saw a quote on Pinterest and asked my friend Meghann if she could custom make some signs for both sets of our parents out of the saying. She did a great job of giving me options on fonts and colors and sizes until they were just right. I loved them when I got them and our parents did too!

Meghann is very talented and can custom design basically any saying that you would like. She’s done other signs for me before and they always turn out beautifully. Custom signs can take some time so go ahead and get in contact with her if you want one for Mother’s Day. She also has an Etsy shop if you want to go with something that she’s already made.
