Bring the Rain

Over the past few weeks I’ve become rather blog obsessed. I check all of these blogs daily to see what’s going on in everyone else’s lives. Sometimes its fun, sometimes it makes me sad, and sometimes, like today, it brings me closer to God. I ran across a blog through a link on a friends blog that I had seen before but hadn’t spent much time on. The blog is www.conorbootheandgirls.blogspot.com. What an amazing woman! She has one daughter, lost another daughter, and is now pregnant again. She has such beautiful thoughts about God and her faith. It really encourages me. Then I ran across a blog that I hadn’t seen before. www.audreycaroline.blogspot.com. Another amazing story. They have twin girls, another little girl, and a few months ago the daughter that they were pregnant with died. Then recently their nephew died from what they believe was SIDS.

These women are amazing. They’ve faced something that, hopefully, I’ll never face. Something that most people don’t have to face. And yet they still choose to lean on God and trust him. How can I, who have been given so much, not trust God when these women are leaning on him through such dark times! Angie (the woman whose daughter and nephew recently died) talks about how when the doctor gave her the news he asked her what she was feeling and she said that Jesus was the same as he was before she walked in to that room and heard the news. How true! How easy to forget! Just because I move, doesn’t mean that he does.

So today my prayer is “Bring the Rain”. Angie had the lyrics to the Mercy Me song Bring the Rain in her original post and I want to pray that prayer. While my human nature only wants the good sometimes it’s the hard and the painful that brings God the most glory. Here is the chorus for the song:

“Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings your glory
And I know there’ll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that’s what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain”
Mercy Me, “Bring the Rain”

So today I hope that you and I can both remember that when God brings the rain he brings it for his glory. And no matter what happens, he is still the same.
