Charlotte

Feed the birds

You know how sometimes the presents your kids love most are the ones that you don’t expect?  Well, this is definitely such a case!  When Charlotte opened up a bird feeder, a bag of birdseed, and a bird ornament for Christmas I knew she would like it but I couldn’t fathom how much she would love it.

Ever since Jason put it up outside the windows of our breakfast area, the first thing Charlotte does when she gets up in the morning is ask me to open up the far shutter and move the chair so that she can sit and watch the birds.

She wants to know exactly what each kind of bird that comes is called and loves yelling out when she sees one or two or ten.

An old bird guide that Gramme lent us has been invaluable as we try to identify the birds coming to visit our feeder.  So far we have noted chickadee’s (Charlotte’s favorite), purple finches, and slate colored junco’s.

And let me just tell you, those birds are hungry!  Jason refills the bird feeder at least once a week and we’re amazed at how quick they deplete the food.  I guess it is the winter but we weren’t expecting to be the life of the bird party!

Thank you Gramme for giving Charlotte and our family such a wonderful gift!  She can’t wait to show it to you!
