Musings on Motherhood

Some randomness about our lives these days and some things that are on my mind.

– How did I go from a 16 year old who got up to take a shower, get dressed, curl my hair and put on makeup every day before school to a 28 year old who will roll out of bed and take my kids to school or run errands or even have informal meetings with builders with no shower, makeup, clothes other than workout clothes, or, sometimes, even contacts?!?!

I know for a fact that in this picture I had on no makeup, at least second day hair (if not third!), and what adds up to basically work out clothes.  And I took my kids out to lunch! (BTW, we’re pouting because Jason couldn’t meet us so we sent him this picture.  James didn’t seem too distraught that Daddy was MIA.  I had a friend text me that afternoon that James was thinking “Daddy who!?!” but that my face was a picture of true sorrow if she’s every seen it.  I am still cracking up about that text!)

– How did I go from someone who had to have everything in its place to someone who leaves the toys in the middle of the floor during naptime because they’re just going to get them out again?

This is a very tame example, but the only one I could find.

– I am so in love with the fact that Charlotte has come up with the phrase “I love you much” and has started using it.  I’ve always told them that “I love you every second, of every minute, of every day” but to have her come up with a statement herself and start using it to tell us how much she loves us is too much.

– How do Mom’s who work outside of the home do it every day?  On the days when I have to get up and take a shower and get fully ready before getting the kids out of bed I’m ready for a nap by 10 am!  If only I could take a nap every time they take a nap!

– The thought of moving next week is in my head but isn’t a reality at this point.  I haven’t started re-packing anything from Mom and Dad’s that the movers will be here to get in…um…13 days.  Nor have I really considered what my unpacking strategy is going to be.  Awesome.  Anyone want to come and help us unpack the new house and pack at Mom and Dad’s next weekend?!?

– Jason turns 30 on March 1.  Thirty used to seem so old and now just seems young.  Which makes the fact that this will be our 13th year celebrating birthday’s together mean that we were just babies when we started dating.

– When did my baby turn into a toddler?  A toddler who basically runs everywhere and carries a bat (or a club) and a ball with him everywhere.  The bad thing about these little years is that the days seem to take forever.  And, yet, the even worse thing is that the weeks and months and years are gone in an instant.

– My best friend, Kelly, just had baby #3 last week.  To say that I am in awe of her is an understatement.  I don’t know how she’s doing it but I’m covering her in plenty of prayer and would appreciate you covering her too!

– After six years without a family wedding, we now have two in 2013!  We can’t wait to celebrate with Jason’s brother Kevin and his bride Stefanie in August and with my cousin Anna and her groom Josh in October!

Enough random for today.  Hope you’re doing good!  If there’s anything that you would like me to blog more about, please let me know in the comments and I’ll try to get on it!  Also, if you have any questions I’d love to hear them and try to answer them soon.  Have a great day!
