Gifts for High School Graduations - Tales of a Peanut

Our beloved babysitter is graduating high school this year and headed to college. Don’t ask me what we’re going to do about babysitting in the fall because I have no idea and might have a panic attack, but I realized yesterday that I haven’t thought about graduation gifts yet. Since I thought you might be in a panic thinking about gifts that are fun, useful, helpful, and that an 18 year old will actually appreciate it, I thought I’d share my finds with you.

25CollegeDormRoomMustHaves Kaitlyn Bouchillon

Kaitlyn Bouchillon has a list of 25 college dorm room must have’s on her blog. Even though I think her list is more applicable for the graduate to cull through I especially liked her suggestions of a tool kit, extra earbuds, and a waterproof outdoor blanket.

40-Graduation-Gift-Ideas-HowDoesShe

HowDoesShe shared 40 graduation gifts idea that lean more towards the sentimental and for parents to give their children (I think).  Some ideas that I liked a lot from their list included gift cards to the movies, a college themed basket with items from their new school, and postcards stamped and addressed to you to send back to redeem for homemade cookies. I wish someone had thought of that when I went off to school!

Brit+Co 27 Last Minute College Graduation Gifts

Bri+Co wrote a post about college graduation gifts but with the exception of the alcohol related ones a lot apply to high school graduations as well. I particularly liked the Naturebox subscription, a Sunny Life Beach Radio, a book called “Adulting” which I feel like I should look in to, and the Chamomile Skin Rescue Facial Kit.

Camelbak of Quarters

Another idea that I saw on Pinterest and loved was giving them a Camelbak full of quarters. Apparently one of those bottles can hold $102 in quarters! The bottle is something that they’ll use and I know that I feel like when I pay for things (like drive through lunches) with quarters it feels like I’m paying with pretend money because it’s not bills. Quarters could also come in handy for vending machines, laundry, etc.

I also think that some of the following products might be unique enough that they won’t receive multiples and will enjoy them.

Jeremiah 29-11 Art

Scripture Art from Lily and Val

Monogrammed Minky Blanket

Monogrammed Minky Blanket from HeartString Things

Athens Georgia Art

I love these unique prints of cities from Bugsy and Sprite! If they have one of the city where the graduate is attending college this would be a great addition to their college decor.

And, finally, because I love my products and think they make great gifts also, here are some great ideas from my shop.

So tell me, if you’re a graduate, what would you like to receive? And if you’re giving a gift, what is it?? I’d love some additional ideas while I decide what to give!
