Celebrate America!

We were celebrating more than just America this July 4th….we were celebrating that CharChar was home from California!

The big kids had fun in the neighborhood parade! Charlotte scooted on her scooter and James walked with Jason!

CharChar met Hadley for the first time!

Charlotte couldn’t get enough of CharChar and was so excited to see him.  There was lots of crying and gnashing of teeth when we left on Sunday.  Thanksgiving is a long time away!

The rest of June

I feel like I went to rarely posting photos of our family to only posting photo’s of our family.  I’m sure that the blog will balance itself out again once school gets going but right now there’s a lot of together time and a lot of picture opportunities that I don’t want to forget.

June seemed to fly by with all of Charlotte’s camps and our continued sleep deprival.  We managed to fit a lot of fun into one little month!

KayKay and GrandDavid came over.  I think this was the first time that GrandDavid had gotten to see Hadley since she was born!

Sibling shots require a lot of bribing these days but they’re worth it!

Hadley took lots of naps

Jason took Charlotte and James out to walk up 18 with Papa and the group one Sunday afternoon.  I think the kids had fun!  Charlotte insisted on “posing” for the pictures.

I got to spend one on one time with my little boy while Sissy was at various camps and baby Sissy was napping.  He’s so much fun right now!

Hadley went to Rosie’s for the first time

The big kids spent the weekend with KayKay and GrandDavid (thank you so much!) and so we enjoyed a nice dinner out.  Hadley obliged by sleeping in her car seat the whole time.

And on the rare occasions that I actually took a shower, got dressed, and put on makeup I tried to take as many pictures as we could! One day in June I put on some white jeans and a tank and went to get Charlotte up from nap one day.  When I walked in she said, “Mommy, you’re so fancy!” I looked at my outfit and said, “Not really, but thanks.”  Charlotte said, “Well, I guess you just haven’t gotten dressed in a while….”

And that pretty much sums up our June.  I spent most of it in my jammies but we had fun!

Memma’s Birthday

We celebrated Memma’s birthday in June.  If I’m remembering correctly, I think it was Hadley’s first visit to Memma and Papa’s too!  We enjoyed grilling out and spending some fun time together celebrating Memma.

We  headed outside to get some pictures before Hadley went down for a nap.  James was intent on “getting Memma’s kisses” like she gets his!

He did smile though after he got all of her kisses.

And, if you can’t tell, they love their Memma and Papa! Happy Birthday Memma!

Art Camp

Charlotte had a packed June that started with a week at VBS, then a week at Frozen Dance Camp, and then a week at Art Camp.  Charlotte was over the moon excited to get back to art camp with Miss Ginna and she created some more beautiful paintings!

It’s hard to see in this picture but she wrote Proverbs 17:17 at the bottom with the verse.  This was my favorite of the week!

She is such an artist and loves to create! I can’t wait to see if she grows up to do something with her art.  I hope so!  Maybe she can join me in Tales of a Peanut! Now, that’s a fun idea!

Frozen Dance Camp

Charlotte’s biggest love right now is “Frozen”.  I’m sure it’s the same for most girls.  Well, obviously it is, because our dance studio hosted a Frozen Dance Camp for the preschool ages this summer and they booked it solid!  Charlotte was so excited about dancing to Frozen songs all week!

Not only did they dance to Frozen songs, they also made Frozen inspired crafts all week like her Elsa crown and Frozen necklace!

But the highlight of the week was when Elsa came!

Dance Camp_2014 06 20_0002_edited-1

We didn’t know who Elsa and Anna were when we went to Disney in December so we had no desire to stand in the very long lines to see them.  But now that we’re aware, Charlotte is a little sad that we missed them and it will be years before we go back.  (Jason and I are hoping by the time we go back the lines will be less than 5 hours every day like they are now!)  So when Miss Michelle announced that Elsa was coming on the last day of dance camp Charlotte was elated.  That is the biggest grin I’ve gotten in a posed picture in a while!  Thanks Elsa for making some little girls dreams come true!

Rite of Passage

When my cousins and I were growing up, our grandparents had our parents get a professional portrait session when we turned five.  Even though we’ve had plenty of professional sessions over Charlotte’s life (I counted 12 before this one, yikes!) Mom and I still wanted to continue this tradition with our sweet girl.  So we scheduled a session with Erin at her cottage and what resulted were, of course, gorgeous shots.

This beautiful girl has my heart.  She is as precious at five years as she was as a newborn.  Maybe even more so because now her sweet personality shines through every day!

113

She looks a little different than I’m used to without her glasses but she’s gorgeous either way.  Her glasses have transitions lenses in them so they turn into sunglasses outside.  That’s why she doesn’t wear them in our outdoor sessions.

And her session would have been incomplete without the session patron jumping in for a few shots.  I am so thankful for the special relationship that my Mom has with my children.  I am so blessed to be able to call her Mom but even more so that my kids get to call her Memma.

If you’re anywhere close to north Alabama (or want to travel to it), Erin Cobb is a phenomenal photographer who we have trusted with all of our important milestones.  She has a beautiful studio/house called The Cottage where she does a lot of sessions these days.  It comes replete with great interior shot spaces (like the bed we used in Hadley’s newborn shots) to luscious front and back yards with exquisite landscaping.  In addition to the beautiful Cottage, if you’re local Erin will gladly meet you at your home or another location to do a session.  In the past we’ve had sessions done at our house, my parent’s house, the neighborhood greenway area, and an old plantation.

To help you experience the joy that is an Erin Cobb photography session, I have one $150 (!!) gift card to give away today!

To enter, you must leave a comment on this post saying what type of session you would have with Erin if you win and then enter via the Rafflecopter widget below!
