Rosemary Beach – day 2

We woke up on our second day at the beach with an excited almost three year old who was determined to go to the beach regardless of the weather.  So we ate breakfast quickly and sun screened up and headed down to the beach.  I was more worried the more and more time we spent outside and the more and more people that we passed with long pants and sweatshirts on!

We managed to get to the beach without incident carrying James, a beach tent, a beach chair for Charlotte, a beach bag with toys, and a beach bag with towels/snacks/etc.  We probably looked like hobo’s.   Hobo’s who weren’t aware that it was freezing and that we were under a wind advisory!  But Charlotte was getting to go to the beach so that was all that mattered!

Charlotte didn’t mind the chill, especially since she was not going anywhere near the water, and James and I hung out wrapped up under the tent for a while until we warmed up.

The beach was definitely empty besides for us though!

Charlotte immediately wanted to get out beach toys….

James and I snuggled to stay warm but eventually it warmed up and everyone started to have fun!

We were very thankful for our beach tent that we bought from One Step Ahead.  It was much bigger than we thought it was going to be from it’s folded up size and was a great size for one of us with one or both of the kids!
However, we failed to unfold the tent to figure out how to refold it before we got on the beach.  Which left us at the end of our first morning on the beach trying to figure out how to contort it to collapse it into the bag.  Once we did it once it was pretty easy the rest of the time but that first time took a while and was pretty stressful.  Once I loaded our pictures Jason and I laughed for a long time at this picture.  I was trying to get a picture of the kids and, unknowingly to me, Jason was fighting with the tent in the background!

After James’ nap and feeding we headed to Wild Olives for lunch.  We were all tired already from our beach excursion but good food does wonders for moods!

Charlotte also discovered the fountain and started making wishes.  I tried to ask her what she wished for, because I have memories of wishing for a piano when I was little at the beach but I never told my parents what I wished for so they never could make that dream come true, but she wouldn’t tell me.  Hope she tells me one day!

Once we got the kids down for nap time Jason and I sat out on the patio to read.  It was a lovely way to spend a few hours.  Especially since this was our view from the patio!

After naps we got up and headed back to the beach.  It was, thankfully, warmer but the beaches were still blessedly uncrowded and, unfortunately, the wind was still really strong.  I insisted that Charlotte wear a hat and she chose her Beaver Creek hat.  It looked cute with her frilly, pink coverup!

After a VERY long day we made pasta at home and headed to bed early.  We had fun going to the beach twice but trying to fit two beach trips, three naps, feedings, showers, etc all in is just too much for us beach newbies!  We decided to just do the beach in the afternoons from now on and, looking back, I’m glad that we made that decision!
